Marta Bevacqua - "On the Road"
“On the road” is a project based on a journey.
In September 2014, the photographer and a group of companions went on a week-trip to Lanzarote.
While being originated by a desire for distancing, for evasion from the daily stressful, busy and overtly populated life of the French capital, the trip became a journey at the (re)discovery of silence, quietness and less volatile human relationships.
The sense of restoration, of a re-found peace and freedom, as well as that of a re-built conciliation with nature and humans alike, are mirrored in the fixity of the images, in their lightness and in the games light creates in conversation with the wild, open natural landscape and with the sporadic human presence. A fictional reconstruction of a romantic elsewhere.
While constructing this universe, the photographic work of Marta Bevacqua also represents the artist’s tribute to friendship as an essential means for coping with the instability of our nomadic contemporary existences and as a source of artistic inspiration.

Marta’s interest for photography dates back to her high school years. Having finished this latter in 2008, she decides to fully dedicate to this passion, making it her profession.
While having experimented different photographic practices, such as set photography, photobooks and lookbooks, fine art has always been her prevalent field of practice.
After a collective exhibition in London in 2009, she enters in contact with Arcangel Images, for which she starts collaborating for book covers, an activity she has been developing since then, realising, among others two covers for the 2014 Nobel prized writer Alice Munro, and collaborating with agencies of the leverage of Trevillion Images.
In recent years, Marta has also started being interested in fashion photography. After a campaign for Romeo Gigli Eyewear (2011) and a short course in Fashion Photography at the Central Saint Martins School of London, she started realizing various fashion editorials, published on several magazines (like POSE, Kult, Flawless,Papier Mache, Trend Prive mag, Ben trovato, In Bloom ecc) and advertising campaigns, like the last one for Generator Hostel Paris (2014). During the same year, she participated to different initiatives proposed by PhotoVogue (Vogue Italia), after being selected and noticed on the website (example: PhotoVogue and Swatch).
Throughout the last years, Marta has realised various exhibitions, several collectives, and one solo exhibition at the ExEliografica of Perugia, during the reknown Umbria Jazz Festival (2012). She has also won several contests and she has been awarded by the Px3 and the International Photography Awards.

“On the road” est un projet qui nait à partir d’un voyage. En septembre 2014, le photographe part avec des amis pour une balade d’une semaine à Lanzarote.
Née tout simplement à partir d’un désir d’évasion de la quotidienneté épuisante, surpeuplée et stressante de la capitale française, la balade se transforme en un voyage à la redécouverte du silence, de la tranquillité, et des relations humaines.
La restauration, la paix et la liberté retrouvée, tout comme le sens de réconciliation vis-à-vis le naturel et l’humain ont leur reflet dans la stabilité des images, dans leur légèreté et dans le jeu que la lumière crée en entrant en conversation avec le paysage naturel sauvage et ouvert d’une cote, et avec la présence humaine éffimère. Une reconstruction fictive d’un ailleurs romantique. Ce travail photographique de Marta Bevacqua représente aussi le tribut que l’artiste offre à l’amitié, élément de référence essentiel dans une condition contemporaine marquée par une instabilité nomadique et source d’inspiration artistique.
Marta Bevacqua est née à Rome en 1989.
L’intérêt pour la photographie nait déjà pendant l’école et une fois obtenue son diplôme en 2008, Marta se consacre entièrement à cette passion.
A partir de ce moment, elle expérimente plusieurs pratiques photographiques - la photographie sur set théâtral, le photobooks et le lookbook -, mais la photographie fine art reste toujours le majeur secteur d’éxperimentation.
Après une exposition de groupe à Londres en 2009, elle rentre en contact avec Arcangel Images où elle commence à travailler pour les couvertures des livres, pour le quelle elle travaille aussi comme freelance, en parallel avec d’autres collaborations avec des agences de la portée de Trevillion Images.
C’est que seulement après quelques années que Marta est intéressé à la photographie de mode. Après une publicité pour Romeo Giglio Eyewear (2011) et un cours de photographie de mode à l’école Central Saint Martins à Londres, elle commence à produire plusieurs éditos, publiés dans des nombreux magazines (comme POSE, Kult, Flawless, Papier Mache, Trend Prive, Ben Trovato, In Bloom ecc), et aussi des campagnes de publicité, comme la dernière pour Generator Hostel Paris (2014).
En 2014 elle participe aussi à des projets proposés par PhotoVogue (Vogue Italia), en étant été sélectionnée plusieurs fois sur leur site (example: PhotoVogue et Swatch).
Dans les dernières années, Marta a réalisé plusieurs expositions collectives et une personnelle à ExEliografica de Pérouse pendant le Festival Umbria Jazz (2012).
Elle a aussi participé à plusieurs concours, en Italie et à l’étranger (Px3, International Photography Awards entres autres).
