In correspondence to the finissage of the photographic exhibition “Magnolia”, by Emilie Danchin, Maison Bergamini is happy to invite you to the conference and video projection:
“Recovering Photography: an encounter with actors of, and approaches to phototheraphy,”
Through the contributions of Emilie Danchin, Pascale Darson and Yuriko Ono, we will undertake a journey at the discovery of the therapeutic role photography as a practice can play in a variety of contexts, ranging from individual illness, migrants integration to psycho-social recovery from natural/societal disasters.
Danchin, photographer, philosopher and therapist, will introduce the public to the world of phototherapy and will make it familiarise with projects using photography as an empowering tool for migrant women in Brussels.
The intervention of Pascale Darson, artistic director and recently recovered breast cancer patient, will focus on her personal fight against this malady and the exceptional and crucial role photography, writing and creativity played in her recovery. By narrating the story of a never-published blog, Darson will powerfully make clear how creative practices can canalise and maximise mental and physical energies.
Finally, Yuriko Ono, Japanese journalist with a training in phototherapy, will shade some light over the role photographic practices have played in the grieving process of those Japanese communities affected by the triple disaster of tsunami, earthquake and nuclear explosion in Fukushima in recent years.

En même temps que le finissage de “Magnolia”, une exposition de photographies d’Emilie Danchin, la Maison Bergamini est heureuse de vous inviter à la conférence et la projection de vidéos : “Guérir avec la photographie : une rencontre avec différents acteurs et approches de la photothérapie”
Au travers de leurs contributions, Emilie Danchin, Pascale Darson et Yuriko Ono vont nous emmener en voyage à la découverte du rôle thérapeutique de la photographie. Elles présenteront plusieurs approches déployées dans des contextes différents, à titre personnel ou collectif, allant de la maladie, à l’identité des femmes migrantes, à la survie après une catastrophe naturelle.
Emilie Danchin, photographe, philosophe et thérapeute, spécialisée en photothérapie, introduira le monde de la photothérapie et l’illustrera par un projet de photographie thérapeutique mené avec des femmes migrantes.
Pascale Darson, directrice artistique et hypnothérapeute, est récemment guérie d’un cancer du sein. Lors de son intervention, elle se concentrera sur son combat contre la maladie et le rôle primordial qu’ont joué la photographie, l’écriture et la créativité dans sa guérison. En racontant l’histoire de son blog qui n’a pas été publié, Pascale Darson montrera explicitement comment des pratiques créatives peuvent canaliser l’énergie mentale et physique.
Enfin, Yuriko Ono, journaliste japonaise formée à la photothérapie, nous éclairera sur le rôle que joue actuellement la photographie dans le processus de deuil de communautés japonaises frappées par le triple désastre du tsunami, le tremblement de terre et l’explosion nucléaire à Fukushima.
