Maison Bergamini is proud to announce the stage of its first exhibition.
From 12th December until 22nd December and from 5th January until the 15th, the works of the French photographer Colette Saint Yves will be exposed at Rue de la Senne 17.

Photographer, collage and video maker, at the beginning of her artistic career, Hortense Legrange adopted the pseudonym Colette Saint Yves to pay tribute to the writer and dancer Ruth Saint Denis. The pseudonym further refers to the artistic and poetical contributions as well as to the aesthetic canon embodied by the greatest actresses of the silent cinema of the beginning of the XX century, which have significantly impacted Colette's visual production.
Since her childhood, Colette has been also fascinated by movement. Different medias - video, photography and collage - are therefore combined in original ways to produce her powerful works.
A critical practice at the hearth of her work lies in the collection of objects and images (abandoned pictures, postcards, old illustrated books, screencaps...),relics of a forgotten world and sources of the artist's renewed imagination.
Colette Saint Yves works have been exposed in Los Angeles, at the "Musée 16" gallery; at the International House of Philadelphia and at the Galerie Korridor in Lille (FR).
Along to her artistic career, Colette studies cinema at the university of Lille, France.

Colette Saint Yves
Photographe, créatrice des collages et des vidéos, de son vrai nom Hortense Lagrange, Colette a choisi ce pseudonyme en hommage à l’écrivaine et à la danseuse Ruth Saint Denis. Ce pseudonyme, lui plu car il lui rappelait les pseudonymes des actrices du muet, qu’elle affectionne tant.
Colette s’intéresse depuis son enfance aux images mobiles et immobiles. Jeune artiste autodidacte, elle utilise différents médias pour produire un travail vidéo, photographique et de collage. Collectionneuse d’images - photos trouvées, cartes postales, vieux livres illustrés, captures d’images de films - elle se constitue les reliques propres à son monde. En 2013, elle expose pour la première fois ses collages à la galerie "Musée 16" de Los Angeles, une photographie à "The International House de Philadelphie" et une série de photographies à la galerie Korridor à Lille.
Colette termine actuellement des études de cinéma à Lille.
